The house numbering system takes some getting used to. The first phase of houses, on the south-western side, follow the lanes on the west side of Little Paul Street in a zig zag pattern going to the north end (by the flats), from number 2 (the Kings Arms was number 1) to number 55, then the direction of flow turns south by the play area, going down the east side of Little Paul Street to number 78. Then the sequence breaks and restarts at the other end of the play area with number 79, proceeding in a similar manner for the north-east corner of the estate to number 104.
Sounds complicated? It is, but there is a logic to it. The break in the numbering reflects that the estate was built in two phases. If you get lost, look out for the versions of the above map on the walls in several locations, or the bricks painted to show a section of numbers.
